Family Centers Charity Profile

Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 1,000 professionals and trained volunteers work together to provide a wide range of responsive, innovative programs. Through our five Centers of Excellence, more than 17,000 children, adults, families and communities receive the care, encouragement and resources needed to realize their potential.

Family Centers is a United Way and Community Fund of Darien partner agency, and is a member of the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies and the Alliance for Children and Families. The agency is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Family Centers is licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Family Centers' mission is to empower children, adults, families and communities to realize their potential. Our NAEYC accredited preschools, school-based social work, parental education and adolescent counseling services, give families the resources they need to ensure their children have the bright beginnings they deserve. A comprehensive network of counseling and support services is also instrumental in helping families in crisis work toward a successful resolution.

Vocational training, housing resources, counseling and self sufficiency programs also help low-income people and those with long-term mental illness realize their dreams of living independently. Meanwhile, our senior outreach programs encourage lifelong learning, socialization and support.
