Roots and Shoots Shanghai View Charity Profile
In 1991, the world-renowned primatologist Jane Goodall started an amazing program called Roots & Shoots. This program is designed to educate youth about environmental issues and humanitarian values with a special focus on group interaction. Roots & Shoots allows youth with similar values, regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, or age, to come together and share their knowledge of the world regarding love for animals, care for the community, and devotion to protecting the environment. The program originated in Tanzania with only 16 students, and now Roots & Shoots has expanded to 100 countries and a network of 8,000 groups. In China, there are Roots & Shoots offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanchang and Chengdu. We believe that change is already taking place! Our Mission is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for animals, the environment, and the human community.
