Women's Empowerment Institute Cameroon Charity Profile
The Women Empowerment Institute Cameroon (WEICAM) was founded in May 2006, and recognized by the government of Cameroon with registration number NW/GP/30/06/10066 of the 30th of June 2006 and in compliance with law number 92/006 of 14th August 1992 relating to cooperative societies and common initiative groups. WEICAM is a national organization, that aim at promoting human rights, democracy and development by empowering the women folk and men as well with the vision of tapping into their respective potentials in the interest of improving on not only their livelihood but also in the interest of the integral
development of society.
As part of the process, WEICAM has engaged in a number of relationships with other organizations and institutions in the area. Among these is the divisional delegation of Women Empowerment and the Family in Bui and Donga, over 64 organized women groups that have affiliated with it and its interaction with over 100 social women's groups. WEICAM believes that these organized entities are effective mechanisms through which women can be empowered to fight poverty, promote women's rights, promote democracy and lobby for the inclusion of more women into leadership and decision-making setting.
