A Home Away From Homelessness Charity Profile
Home away was founded in July of 1994, acting in partnership with the Nation Park Service, Home Away aquired the use of a cottage on Golden Gate National Recreation Area land in the Marin Headlands, which became the Beach House. The Beach House served as a respite program for shelter-based children. The goal was and continues to be a program that provides a safe, fun place where children can be just be kids. At Home Away we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience safe and supportive spaces that respect and foster her or her strengths, creativity, abilities. By joining with homeless and formerly homeless families we help build confidence by providing educational, social, and recreational opportunities.
