Become a Coastkeeper - Volunteer
San Diego Coastkeeper believes that we all have a right to live in a clean and healthy environment and we all have a responsibility to join in our environment's stewardship. After all, our environment is where we live. Protecting our watersheds, bays, and shores should be taken as personally as the health of our family, the safety of our homes, and the well being of our neighborhoods. San Diego Coastkeeper encourages citizens to take an active role in protecting our water.

Community Based Social Marketing in La Jolla Shores
Community Based Social Marketing is a social science approach to uncovering barriers that inhibit individuals from engaging in sustainable behaviors and seeks tools that are effective in fostering and maintaining behavior change. We have completed the first phase, observation phase, of our research in La Jolla Shores. We now need volunteers to begin the second phase which seeks to identify social barriers to the polluting behaviors that were uncovered by our observation data by completing door to door residential surveys. We are looking for volunteers that would be interested in this phase of the research. There will be a short but thorough training session provided prior to the studies. Be outside; enjoy our beautiful coastline, while feeling good about helping to keep San Diego's beaches clean! As the project progresses we will also be performing further observations to identify prevalent polluting behaviors in other watersheds such as Chollas Creek and Clairemont.
