The David & Margaret Home Charity Profile
In 1910, a group of concerned church leaders founded an orphanage in La Verne, California, to provide shelter and care for displaced children. Through the support and generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuns, a hotel building and surrounding parcel of land were donated in memory of their late son and Mr. Kuns' parents, David and Margaret. This is how the David & Margaret Home got its name.
Today, David & Margaret Youth and Family Services is dynamic in ways its founders could never have imagined. We are licensed to serve teenage girls and emancipated young adults in our Residentially-Based Services and children and families through our Foster Family Agency and other Community-Based Services. These clients come to us in need of care, support and guidance. They find programs and services designed to address their emotional, behavioral and educational needs.
The David & Margaret Home Volunteer Information
Every year, we host two major volunteer days, in April and August, when we invite groups and individuals to help out with large and small projects of all types around the campus. It’s a fun-filled day, with all our residents and staff participating, and complimentary breakfast, lunch and ice cream social provided!
Female mentors, age 21 and up, are needed for mentoring relationships with our female residents. We’re looking for positive, responsible and caring role models. A one-year commitment is required.
