Books For A Better World Charity Profile
Books for a Better World was established to help break the cycle of illiteracy that cripples developing nations. Often, there are no books and the school day is dull and not stimulating. There is little reason to attend school thus the children drop out and illiteracy continues. Most children have never seen a book that is not a schoolbook and there is little connection between learning the vowels, learning to sound out words and reading a story.Books for a Better World works with schools that are often in remote locations and the books must be delivered personally. Reliable mail or courier service is not yet available to these rural areas. BBW sends volunteers with the books to ensure delivery as well as the engage the students who receive them in literacy programs to inspire their long-term love of reading.
