Foundation for Burns and Trauma Charity Profile
The original mission of the Foundation was to: (1) assist in the development of a community based burn center, and (2) to respond to the community's desire for an organization that can receive and earmark public donations for burn patient treatment, rehabilitation, and public education. The Arizona Burn Center was established at Maricopa Medical Center (MMC), 2601 E. Roosevelt, in Phoenix, providing the state with its only burn center.
The Foundation's current mission: To assist burn victims and their families in becoming burn survivors through rehabilitation, treatment and research; the reduction of death and injury from burns and fire through prevention education; and to serve as an advocacy partner for the prevention of trauma associated with other injuries.
The Foundation believes that most burns are preventable and this can best be realized through the education of the community and its children.
Foundation for Burns and Trauma Volunteer Information
Volunteers are a vital resource in the mission and success of the Foundation. From serving as a counselor at Camp Courage to aiding with the many programs of the Foundation, there are numerous opportunities to provide volunteer support. Individuals of varied backgrounds and physical abilities are encouraged to become volunteers.
The Foundation also provides volunteer support for various groups that have approval from our Board of Directors to host fundraising events that benefit the Foundation.
Foundation for Burns and Trauma Donation Information
Since the Foundation was started 40 years ago, thousands of burn survivors, their families and community members have received assistance, support and education through the generous donations of members in the community. The Arizona Burn Center is ranked the second busiest burn center in the nation, and that means the Foundation has even more burn survivors and their families to assist.
Your donation helps to ensure that every burn victim receives the critical resources and support that he/she needs. Your support makes a difference.
Tax deductible donations are accepted from individuals, civic groups, and businesses to assist in the funding of the programs available at the Foundation. Monies are utilized to provide prevention education, rehabilitative support for burn and trauma victims, assist with patient and medical facility equipment needs, assist in ongoing burn and trauma research and to provide sponsorship of child burn survivors to the Arizona Children’s Burn Camp.
