Camp Fire USA - Greater Arizona Council Charity Profile
The Camp Fire presence in Arizona was first felt in 1913, making it one of the oldest non-profit organizations in the state. Since that time, Camp Fire has evolved from a summer camp for girls to an organization that annually affects over 10,000 boys and girls from all social and economic levels. Our programs and camps celebrate diversity. Camp Wamatochick, located in beautiful Prescott, AZ, is Camp Fire's resident camp, abundant in tradition but not without innovation. Totally renovated in the last several years, Camp Wamatochick is the only facility with an on-site computer lab. In the off seasons, Camp Wamatochick has become a destination retreat for schools, training sessions, and family gatherings.
Camp Fire is equally proud of our latest undertaking...a proven in-school tutoring program that pairs credentialed tutors with K-12 students at seven under-resourced schools in south Phoenix. In predetermined small-group environments, students are provided the math, language, and reading skills to reach the academic levels of their peers.
