Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County Charity Profile
Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County, Inc. (LVMC) began in 1982 by offering free literacy services to adults who read below the fifth grade level. Volunteers at that time had backgrounds in education.
Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County (LVMC) is a non-profit organization in Phoenix, AZ dedicated to teaching adults 16 years and older how to read, write, speak English and prepare for the GED. We also offer computer literacy which includes the basics of using a computer, accessing the Internet and using basic Microsoft programs.
Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County Volunteer Information
Each volunteer is required to attend 6 hours of training. Volunteer Tutor Training Workshops are held 4 times per year at one of our Learn Lab locations.
Tutors can work with students at one of our Learn Centers, a family literacy class or an ESOL class.

Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County is a 501c(3) non profit organization that depends entirely on donations through grants, corporate donations and individuals. Donating to LVMC is quick, easy and is tax deductible.
