Sealaska Heritage Institute Charity Profile
Sealaska Heritage Institute (SHI) is a regional Native nonprofit organization founded for the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people of Southeast Alaska. SHI was established in 1981 by Sealaska Corp., a for-profit company formed under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). SHI, formerly Sealaska Heritage Foundation, administers Sealaska Corp.'s cultural and educational programs.
Sealaska Heritage Institute seeks to perpetuate and enhance Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian cultures.
Sealaska Heritage Institute Volunteer Information
SHI's Special Collections Research Center needs volunteers to help preserve Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian collections. Volunteers will be trained in an array of archival skills and allowed to process and arrange collections, transcribe oral histories, and other similar projects.
Sealaska Heritage Institute Donation Information
SHI is a nonprofit organization and relies on public funds and private contributions to provide programs for the benefit of the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people.
