Resource Center for Parents and Children RCPC Charity Profile

The Resource Center Parents and Children (RCPC) has grown in size, strength, and commitment since 1973, when it was started by a small group of concerned Fairbanks citizens who met as the Fairbanks Child Protection Task Force (FCPTF) to discuss the problems of child abuse and neglect in the Fairbanks community.
Over the years our programs and services have varied; however, all have focused on the same mission. The prevention of child abuse and neglect begins with strengthening the family structure, helping parents with parenting skills, and providing a safe place for parents to share and deal with parenting issues. The Resource Center for Parents and Children has been successful due to quality staff, programs and countless volunteers and social service agency partners.

"Parenting on Thursdays" is an open forum for parents who are looking for answers and support. RCPC provides childcare during this support group so that the parents are able to fully participate in the group. We are looking for two volunteers to help us with childcare on Thursdays (excluding holidays) from 11-12:30pm. Your child is welcome too! We have a beautiful playroom for the children and their parents are right down the hall. The "Ma Poole Library" is our free parenting library and we need help cataloguing new materials and reworking some of the information in the library. Someone who is organized and enjoys books and digging through resources would really like this project! Bring a friend with you and enjoy our beautiful facility while helping the Parents of Fairbanks. We need volunteers for areas such as administration, baking, board of directors, childcare, fundraising, sewing, special projects and much more!
