Community Grief Support Service View Charity Profile

Community Grief Support Service (CGSS) provides FREE help to bereaved adults in the Greater Birmingham area who face the challenges of rebuilding their lives without their loved ones, through professionally led grief support groups, grief education and grief counseling. CGSS offers free educational seminars and workshops for the community, and a Grief-in-the-Workplace initiative providing crisis intervention and lunch-and-learn seminars for businesses and organizations.
Since 1996, CGSS has been reaching out to help men and women whose lives lost their meaning when their loved ones died. At CGSS they get help and there is no bill to pay - you provide that help through your donation.
All services are provided free.

Community Grief Support Service Volunteer Information

Support Group Volunteers - training provided; must have experienced loss by death. Opportunities include: assist with support groups sharing personal grief experiences, present experiential views on specific grief topics, assist with group meal hospitality, phone contact with group attendees .
General Volunteers -- no special training required. Opportunities include telephone support, annual Gala/Auction and Holiday Help event management activities, fund-raising, large mailings, referrals, etc.

Community Grief Support Service Donation Information

CGSS is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization registered as a charity with the state of Alabama. All donations are tax deductible.

Donations are accepted by mail, email or on our website. Gifts can be made in memory or in honor of someone; just provide the name(s). If the gift is given in honor/tribute, please provide an address so a gift acknowledgement can be mailed to the honoree.

All donors will receive a letter acknowledging their tax deductible gift.
